An unplanned expatriate blogger behind ExpatHome Journey

Hello, I am Lorenzo

I work as a project manager. I’m a parent. I’m an expat based in Rome, Italy.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter abroad.

How It Began

Moving to Italy wasn’t part of the grand plan. As with many expatriate relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, heightened expectations. Day-to-day chores seemed more challenging than expected.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and much learning by doing. Yet over time, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.

Why I Built ExpatHome Journey

Most online information fell into either corporate relocation guidance or surface tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site is:

  • Practical knowledge from living in Italy
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever there is a genuine change

This site isn't:

  • A tourism authority resource
  • A sponsored review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Lorenzo
